Well, Henrietta is sitting quietly in her wheelchair in her room. I say quietly because she isn’t crying or yelling for Gilbert to come in there or ringing the *=$#@&! bell for service. I brought her in the dining room earlier and rolled the table to one side so I could roll her chair right up to the window and she could see the cardinals and blue jays and squirrels fighting for the food I put out on the feeder in front of the window. She greatly enjoyed this and I thought she might stay here for a while.
Nope.
She started rolling out of the room and down the hall in just a few minutes. Oh well. It was a thought. It just seems to me the more she stays in there the worse her mind gets.
We may need an exorcism.

I started to name this post, “Tragedy has struck” or something like that, but thought with John’s health problems of late that might not be best. Too easy to get the wrong idea before reading the post.
However, there has been a tragedy of another sort.
Remember Cecilia? Well, I was able to “fix” her. We won’t go into what I found out was the problem and how disgusting and embarrassing it was to admit. (NASTY BLACK…. GUNK. GROWING, reproducing… pooping, and doing all sorts of nasty things in the water reservoir. I think I heard it laugh at me when I shined a light down in that black tank to see what it looked like. It had it’s own IQ, people.)
Well, I am just not down with that. The only place I am content to grow hairy things that are perfectly capable of turning into monsters that could overthrow the household is in the vegetable crisper. There’s plenty of light in the fridge and I am at lest aware of how bad it’s getting and can warn people not to even open that drawer.
Yes. That’s what I do…. Don’t you?
I think I am getting off track here. I was reminding you all of Cecilia so that you can appreciate how totally in mourning I am when I tell you that the EXPLETIVE HERE, dishwasher won’t wash. I mean, it will wash, but only with fairly cold water. Not nearly hot enough to say, remove grease. Or sanitize. And there is no heat to dry the dishes with either. It sounds to me like the heating element has gone out. Or maybe the thermostat in it is broken. Or, as some smart arse repair person pointed out to me on the phone, it’s an electronic gizmo in the computer brain of it.
I don’t know, but it is a Bosch and supposed to be a superior product dishwasher-wise. This means it costs a fortune to repair. So, until next month when we can afford it, I am washing dishes.
And drinking coffee with my best friend… Cecilia.
Or YOU if you want to come on over, I would love to have you! You don’t have to be scared of Henrietta! Well, not TOO much…

I wouldn’t be afraid of Henrietta (I don’t htink), but might be of Cecilia. BUT: I would help you wash your dishes, at least! 🙂

Ugh. The dishwasher thing cracks me up – we NEVER had a working dishwasher growing up, and I was totally content to handwash dishes until hubby and I bought our first home. Convenience totally won out, and now I can’t imagine life without a machine waching my dishes!
Would Henrietta do puzzles? Maybe that would get her out of her room and seated where the action is. Although personally, I am still waiting for her blog.

Sorry I’ve been MIA for so long…..and sorry to hear about the passing of Cecilia;) We can only hope that she’s gone on to a better place, and that her replacement will provide you with as much company as she has!!! Washing dishes by hand isn’t so bad – for a short period of time:)

HATE appliances of all varieties! We’ve been hand washing dishes since OCTOBER because I refuse to spend the money to replace our stupid dishwasher. It washes fine: First the dishes, then the floor, then the cabinets, then the yard…I think we have a drainage problem.
And just when I was starting to shop for a replacement, my main computer went down. The tech had the…um…pelotas to tell me that “computers are built for efficiency, not durability” and that the $1,500 machine we bought three years ago was ready for its swan song.
I mean it, give me a hot coal and a cave to draw on, and I’ll happily renounce everything after the industrial age.

Jinx!! My dishwasher died the other week, though I think it was from natural causes, i.e. being approx 720 years old!!

After your post about Cecilia, I’m all jeebed out about my coffee pot and found out that Pioneer Woman uses Lemi Shine in hers to keep the fungi out… so that’s what I’ve been doing. There might be fungi growing, but in my MIND it’s clean as a whistle.
I think you might need to give Henrietta a new JOB. Washing Dishes. Tell her you absolutely cannot function without her expert dish washing skilz.

I’ve got dishes sitting in the sink here in the apartment and I swear, I don’t remember eating off of them – I’m just too lazy to wash them.
Remember, I’m the only one here – AND I’m only here three nights/week.
WTF?

I’m telling you, if we weren’t expecting snow I’d be right over. For some reason I’ve been going stir crazy….but you know I’ve had my fill of crazy snow trips.

In the sad, but brief period when my dishwasher died, I used the carcass to store dirty dishes. I would wash them when it was full. I always hated to see crap in the sink.

Doesn’t it seem that the money you spend on an appliance is in inverse proportion to the quality of experience that you get from it?
We had an expensive coffee maker that quickly died. We bought a 2-cup Mr. Coffee for $19.99 and it’s lasted for years. (although I probably just jinxed it by saying that) I have an inexpensive enameled teapot that works just fine; no way am I buying a $130 Windsor Whistling Teakettle from Williams-Sonoma.
Sorry that Bosch is making you pay – again. Maybe Hyphen Mama has a good idea about keeping Henrietta busy washing dishes.

I love your sense of humor and writing style, having hopped here from ASouthernFairyTale. You are not alone in your grieving. My beloved dryer, who although unnamed, will be greatly missed after catching on fire last week. I am thankful for its sacrifice and heavy-dutiness to keep the fire contained within itself and not put my family in any greater danger than we already were. That was the end of my otherwise dreadful week last week. So far this week is better. (Yes, Bosch is supposed to be excellent, but everyone I know who has anything Bosch has had problems with it within the first year. I think we’ll be looking at a different brand for our dryer.) Good luck with your dishwasher.
