Pet Peeve #86

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

My paper boy is out to get me. He has consistently thrown the paper on the sidewalk or in the yard for a good long time now and as soon as it is a rainy day, it goes in the driveway, where the plastic bag it is in fills with runoff water, rendering the paper a soggy, unreadable mess.

The dirty bastard.

Update on “hell”…

Friday, April 25th, 2008

John is out at the grocery store. He went there after dropping off Keelan, because Kessa told him she would cook lasagna tonight if he would go and get the stuff.

But:

She won’t be off work until about 5:00. So when she gets home I will be leaving with my husband and going out of the house for the first time in… a few days. I don’t really keep track anymore. I mean, why bother, right?

Well hell…

John is off work today and it is 3:20pm as I type this. H has just now made it into the living room. Now we can finally go somewhere, as Keelan is home to stay with her. Oh wait, yes, H has been fed. Yes, she has seen the visiting nurse. Yes, she finally got around to doing the daily poop on the bedpan. This is what we were all waiting for so we could go. Now Keelan has to be at work in 26 minutes.

Crap.

Well, Kes is supposed to be home from work sometime soon….

Small dog at large.

Kissy, our little terrier/chihuahua mix, was spotted down the road, actually on the next street, by John when he was on his way back from running an errand. Of course he stopped and got her and brought her home. She was all excited and wagging and you could just hear her telling our other little dog, Baby, “Dude, you gotta escape, too! It was so cool! I just ran down the road and found where Daddy goes when he leaves and he got me and gave me a car ride home! It was fun!”

When I Grow Up…

  • I am going to have a real dinner party with more than just one couple invited over to eat. And not the same couple we always have over that we know so well they are expected to get in the kitchen and help.
  • I am going to have a big girl voice and not sound like a Munchkin doing hits of helium.
  • I am going to begin, AND COMPLETE a decorating project BY MYSELF. (Keep dreaming, Mom.)
  • I will conquer my mild case of ADD and stop giving minor details intense, pinpointed focus, all the while completely missing the broader picture. (Dream on, Krissa)
  • I intend to rise from bed and get a shower and dressed immediately every day and not just when the planets align perfectly.
  • I will always have the perfect, “cool” reply to anything my teenagers say to me with no second guessing. (good luck, girls…)

Keelan is 17 years old today. This is truly remarkable to me. There have been times when I was sure I was never going to allow her to live another second. But then, most of the time, she amazes and astounds me with her sweet nature and loving heart. She is my child with the huge humanitarian spirit, who cares deeply for others and is easily touched. This doesn’t mean she hasn’t told me she hates me and that I am “ruining her life!”. But, hey, what teenager hasn’t?

The jury’s in. I am willing to let this go on for at least another year.

Dear Physical Fitness people…

Monday, April 21st, 2008

Actual copy of real, authentic, genuine excuse note written for teenage girl with huge, swollen face:

4/22/08

Dear Physical Fitness people,

Keelan had 4 wisdom teeth removed and is still feeling the effects.

While you may feel free to tease her about looking like a chipmunk, please dismiss her from participation in any exerting exercise at this time.

Sincerly,

Krissa Lopez

Turn away! Turn away! OK, I warned you….

I found a new one, for me that is, that’s making me feel more like an underachiever than ever before. This chicks got it ALL going on. She’s 34, I believe is what she said, in law school, single and a new mother. Her life is, well, active is not really the word. I guess you could draw parallels from an Indiana Jones movie. Really funny and while I can empathize with her on so many levels, just for her being a new mom, I cannot even begin to imagine how she can be doing all the things she is doing. There are some hysterical spots in her blog about trying to nurse her baby. Been there.

Anyway her site’s name is A New Duck . Give it a look-see.
